FAQs

What does a tap tempo pedal do?

A tap tempo pedal is an auxiliary remote switch used to set the tempo of time based effects such as delay or tremolo. These pedals do not have any built in effects and can only be used with an effect pedal that has an external tap tempo jack.

Do your tap tempo pedals require a power source?

No. Tap tempo pedals are passive so you do not need a battery or a power supply. Simply connect them to the external tap tempo jack of your favorite time based effect and you are good to go.

How long will it take to get my pedal after I order it?

Most pedals ship the next business day after you complete your order. USPS Priority mail is included in the price and usually takes 3 days to deliver to most areas. FedEx 2 day is an option for $10 extra per order.

What is the difference between a normally open and normally closed pedal?

Normally open or normally closed refers to the switch type is used inside of the pedal.

The switches in tap tempo pedals are momentary switches, so instead of clicking on and staying on and clicking off and staying off, a normally closed switch is always in the ON position except for when pressed. I like to think of a normally closed switch as a normally ON switch and a normally open switch as a normally OFF switch.

When you push down on the button of a normally closed switch, you are moving the switch from the ON position into the OFF position, but only for as long as you hold it down (hence the name momentary switch). When you release the button, the pedal automatically returns to the ON position.

A normally open switch works exactly the opposite. The switch is always in the OFF position except for when pressed. When you push down on the button of a normally open switch, you are moving the switch from the OFF position into the ON position, but only for as long as you are holding it down. When released the switch will return into the off position.

Do I need a normally open or a normally closed pedal?

Pedals manufactured by Boss require a normally closed switch. Most other manufacturer's pedals require a normally open switch. If you are unsure, send me an e-mail and I will let you know which one to order. 86pedals@gmail.com

What mountain is that in your logo?

Our logo is inspired by Mt Hood in Oregon where I spent a lot of time snowboarding before I moved to Arkansas.
